My Daughter and I Went To Paris!

We went for 10 days, just the two of us, and it was fantastic! We’ve been there before so we didn’t feel the need to cram every.single.thing.and.tour into our schedule. Overall, we went with a go-with-the-flow attitude.

It was a post-high school gradation and before-college girls trip and I’ve been dreaming about this trip since she was born and it lived up.

Despite not having a “big agenda”, we still managed to:

  • Tour Notre Dame inside and out

  • Disney Paris Day

  • Walked up and inside the Eiffel Tower

  • Luxembourg Gardens a couple times

  • Eat macarons, crepes, steak frites, creme brûlée…and repeat

  • Taught my daughter how to use the Paris Metro and she did it by herself a few times, which a lifelong skill that will serve her well

  • Toured Sainte-Chappell

  • Sat at many cafes watching the world go by

  • Shopped and wandered, but we did more window shopping than actual shopping (other than the duty free shops at the airport and CityPharma in the 6th)

  • Ride the giant ferris wheel by the Jardines Tuileries

  • Farmers markets

  • Lourve

  • Started putting together a puzzle and sad we had to abandon it before going home

I Celebrated My Wedding Anniversary

I’m still a newlywed of sorts at married for 2 years, although together for 5 years. We started off the evening with a paint-and-sip, our first time together. I’ve done it twice before and my husband never. I knew it was meant to be when I saw on the schedule that we were going to be painting the Eiffel Tower!

After that, we went out to one of our favorite restaurants in San Diego, Cowboy Star. Always the filet for me, ribeye for him, and the banana dessert, and they never fail. Because it was our anniversary, we also got oysters and shrimp cocktail to start which were both solid choices.

Other Things I Did

  • Random nights out

  • Went to the beach one afternoon

  • Hot yoga

  • Long runs

  • Lots of work - if it’s not a 12 hour day, it’s not real. Don’t let this fool you, I work so much!

  • Went to Opening Day at Del Mar

  • Read The Briar Club which was 5 star - loved every second!

  • I wrote this post about my Top Historical Fiction Books and you guys loved it…thank you!

  • Started this Substack and THANK YOU for the 266,000 of you who have supported me, opened my posts, believed in me, you all have been the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time!
